Edit a PDF online

A PDF is not designed to be edited, which is why most editors either refuse or wreck the layout. This one lets you add new content anywhere on the page and replace existing text in place, matching the original font size so the result does not look patched.

Private by design: your files are held in your browser. Anything processed on the server is deleted within the hour, automatically — we keep no copies.

How to edit a PDF online

  1. Open the file and switch to the Edit tab.

  2. Use the toolbar to add text boxes, shapes, freehand drawings or images anywhere on the page.

  3. Click existing text to replace it — the editor matches the original font size automatically.

  4. Nudge anything you have selected with the arrow keys: 1pt per press, 10pt with Shift, 0.25pt with Ctrl.

  5. Save your changes as a new copy, or overwrite the original.

Questions

Can I change text that is already in the PDF?
Yes — click it and type. The editor matches the original size. Perfect font matching is not always possible, because a PDF only embeds the glyphs it actually used, so replacement text is rendered in the closest available match.
Can I find and replace a word across the whole document?
Yes. In the Edit tab press Ctrl+F or click the magnifier. Every match is listed with its page number, so you can review each one and Replace or Skip it individually, or Replace all in one go. Match case and Whole word are both available, and any replacement can be undone with Ctrl+Z.
Can I position things precisely?
Select anything and use the arrow keys: 1 point per press, 10 points with Shift held, and 0.25 points with Ctrl for lining replacement text up exactly on the original baseline. Dragging with the mouse works too, but the keyboard is what gets it exact.
Can I edit a scanned document?
A scan is an image, so there is no text to click. You can still draw, annotate and add text boxes on top of it, and redaction works normally.
Can I edit a password-protected PDF?
Unlock it first. An encrypted PDF can be viewed with its password but not modified — use Tools, then Password, then Unlock.
Do my files stay private?
Yes. Your files are held in your own browser, not in an account on our servers. When a tool has to run server-side, the file is staged for the few seconds the operation takes and then deleted — everything is purged within an hour at the latest, automatically. We store no copies and nothing that identifies you.
